It is also a perfect time to re-decorate, to bring some new ideas into your home, and liven things up! This can be done on a budget without doing a major make over if you just apply a few simple rules.
Start with De-cluttering: put winter items in storage containers and get rid of old papers, toys and everyday clutter.
Nothing imparts a clean fresh feeling like a coat of paint. It makes the most impact of anything you can do. Consider traditional colors that can be appropriate regardless of the time of year. You can take some pleasure in decorating with touches of spring by brining in colorful accessories like; pictures, flower arrangements, birds, bird nests, and candlesticks with bright colored candles to complement your existing colors. If your rooms are more subdued and have softer shades, go with light coral, buttery yellow, aqua, lavender and celadon.
Surround yourself with wonderful scents. Often people don't know this, but how our homes smell is a form of decoration. Our noses experience joy to a certain degree but potpourri and candles are beautiful decor on their own.
Sometimes pulling items from one room to another and simply re-organizing, fixing up, or just using an item in a different way can be enough to make a difference.
It is amazing how uplifting adding a new accessory to a room makes you feel. It is also a sense of accomplishment to look around and see the atmosphere that you have "recreated" with a little bit of imagination and some elbow grease!
