Decorating with Picture Frames

Birthdays, weddings, christenings and vacations are grand occasions that happen once in a lifetime. This is why you capture unforgettable moments of you and your loved ones in photographs. One of the best examples of something that can instantly make you feel better on the inside is looking at pictures of loved ones. It could be an image of your parents hanging on the wall or an image of your children. It is very clear that photographs can instantly bring the past back into the present.

Obviously, it takes a little more time to have it developed into the desired size and choose a picture frame. Picture frames have come from all sorts of materials: aluminum, plastic or polystyrene, sea shells and wood. It is just a matter of choice. Most go for the usual preference such as a wood frame which have never gone out of style.

Check out a few tips:

The thing to keep in mind when choosing a frame is how you want the artwork to look once it is displayed in your home. Always keep in mind the design and decoration of the room that you are working with.

Look for a style that matches your photograph. Make sure that the frame you select compliments your painting or photo. For conventional and small wedding photographs you can use a frame with beautiful ornamentation and carving to match with the style. Whereas for contemporary and small size photographs, a thinner frame along with large white matting would work well. If your photograph is modern, pair it with a clean-lined, simple and elegant photo-frame in a dark chocolate brown color.

Make use of highlighters such as silver or gold inner matting to make your photo-frame more attracting and interesting. Photo-frames in dark wood color look great with silver or gold details giving more contemporary and sophisticated outlook to your picture.
Selecting a dark wood color has an added advantage; it goes well with the remaining décor of your photograph and home. For instance, if you find some shades of red in your picture, use dark wood frames because they go well with those shades.

A great way to display all of these past events is in a collage of picture frames. You can get very creative when displaying photos in a collage. For the best effect use the same or similar color and style frame in one collage. One of the best ways you can do this is by choosing a theme for all the images to follow.

For example, you might have a child who loves to ride horses or play football. You could take an image of them playing when they first started and chronicle their football career all the way up to high school or college.

When hanging pictures you can use a piece of paper or cardboard cut to the exact size of the picture. Take this "pattern" and tape it to the place you want to hang the picture. That way you can move it about easily to see exactly where you want it without having to put a bunch of holes in your wall!

Keep in mind when hanging picture frames for decorations, you want each photo to add to the room, not detract from it. You don't need to cover your walls in hundreds of pictures to make a statement. Rather select a few key pieces that will accent the room.

Decorating with picture frames is one of the easiest ways to accent your home in a loving and personal manner. You may also want to give a picture frame to people you love or know; it is an ideal gift to give as it comes with many purposes. As you may notice, this is the usual gift one gives to many besides the scented candles.

Happy Decorating!
